Apply for Seed Funding

To apply for von Liebig Center seed funding, please follow the guidelines below. We strongly suggest that you consult with one our business advisors before submitting a statement of intent. To schedule an appointment with a von Liebig business advisor, please send e-mail to vonliebigadvisors@soe.ucsd.edu, or contact Rosibel Ochoa, Commercialization Director at rochoaf@soe.ucsd.edu.

Step 1 - Statement of Intent
To be considered for von Liebig Center funding, a Statement of Intent to apply must be submitted via e-mail to JacobsVonLiebig@soe.ucsd.edu during an open solicitation period. The Statement of Intent should contain the name of the Principal Investigator (PI), the project title and a brief outline of up to 500 words describing the project.

Step 2 - Funding Application*
A full funding application must be submitted via e-mail to JacobsVonLiebig@soe.ucsd.edu during an open solicitation period. Step 3 - Review Process
Reviewers with both technical and business expertise evaluate all applications, and recommend candidates to the von Liebig Center. You should not assume that all the reviewers will be experts in your underlying technology. Please provide the information in a manner that they will be able to judge the technical feasibility and the commercial value of your technology.

Note: While researchers outside of the Jacobs School of Engineering can apply for seed funding, they must partner with a Jacobs School faculty member. If you do not have a Jacobs School researcher working with you, please let us know and we will assist as best we can.
