ENG 202 - Enterprise Dynamics (4)
Managing & Growing Innovative Companies: Designing, building & managing the innovative business venture in companies.
Focuses on the CTO/VP level of an organization:
- the middle stage of the engineer’s career, from project manager to the VP engineering and/or CTO level.
We examine business venturing from the perspective of the management team building, 'entrepreneurial' business organizations and culture as well as developing and launching new product ideas.
There is a strong emphasis on direct exposure to real firms via a major project and through an interactive computer simulation based business competition.
- Case studies of start-ups
- Strategic technology management
- Practice in use of industrial decision making tools
This is achieved by:
- Learning from speakers from successful firms
- Experience in making dynamic management decisions in a competitive computer-simulated enterprise
- Participating in a field study of ongoing innovation processes in a local high technology company
Student Comments:
- 'I really enjoyed some of the speakers who came to talk'
- 'I liked the use of the game to introduce us to finance and accounting'
