Center Launches Spring 2005 Solicitation for Faculty Research Projects

San Diego, CA, March 18, 2005 -- The von Liebig Center is pleased to announce its seventh solicitation for project funding. Funding up to $50,000 is available for new Jacobs School faculty projects or the continuation of existing projects. The funding may be used to assess and confirm the commercial potential of UCSD technologies, including prototype development, proof-of concept demonstrations, feasibility testing and market studies.

 
A Statement of Intent to apply should be submitted to Steve Halpern and Liz Bongolan ONLY at JacobsVonLiebig@soe.ucsd.edu by April 15, 2005 and the full proposals are due by May 13, 2005. Instructions are below and a sample application and application form are available on this website. Staff at the von Liebig Center are available to advise you on your application.

Application Guidelines

Below, please find the funding application guidelines with suggestions and recommendations as to how to complete the funding application. Remember if you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact staff at the von Liebig Center who can help and advise you on the completion of your application. 

 Statement of Intent Information

To be considered for von Liebig Center funding, a Statement of Intent to Apply for von Liebig Funding must be submitted via e-mail to JacobsVonLiebig@soe.ucsd.edu by 4:30 p.m. on April 15, 2005. The Statement of Intent to Apply must contain the name of the PI, the project title and a brief outline of up to 500 words describing the project.

Funding Application Information

The full funding application is due by 4:30pm on May 13, 2005. Then, please complete this application describing the project you propose. Answer the questions to the best of your ability. Carefully selected reviewers with both technical and business expertise will be used to review and evaluate the applications, and then recommend funding candidates to the von Liebig Center. You should assume that all the reviewers might not be familiar with your technology. Please provide the information in a manner that they will be able to judge the technical feasibility and the commercial value of your technology.

Completed applications must be:
-  no more than 10 pages in length, including any attachments, using Ariel 11 font size;
- Submitted via email to JacobsVonLiebig@soe.ucsd.edu by 4:30 pm on May 13, 2005;
- Submitted in MS Word or PDF format
